Current Piano Syllabuses 2025 & 2026 New Piano Syllabuses 2027 & 2028

The 2027 & 2028 Piano Syllabuses feature refreshed repertoire lists for Practical and Performance Grades. The scales, arpeggios, sight-reading, and aural tests remain unchanged for the Practical Grade syllabus. These new syllabuses are valid from 1 January 2025, with a one-year overlap period for transitioning.

Syllabus Overlaps

ABRSM offers an overlap period in the first year of a new syllabus. During this period, you may follow requirements from the previous syllabus. Overlap periods apply only to the syllabuses listed on the ABRSM website. Additional syllabus information will be available as they approach the end of their validity period. Check out the ABRSM Page for more details:

Practical Grades:

Choose three pieces from the 2025 & 2026 syllabus until 31 December 2027.
All three pieces must be from the same syllabus.
If using the 2025 & 2026 syllabus, inform the examiner or note it on your programme form.

Performance Grades:

Choose set pieces from the 2025 & 2026 syllabus until 31 December 2027.
Video recordings must be uploaded on or before this date.
All three set pieces must be from the same syllabus.
The fourth, own-choice piece remains unaffected by overlap arrangements.
Include the relevant syllabus dates when completing the online programme form.
